Sports Massage is massage aimed at athletes. Whether we are talking about sports professionals or the “weekend warrior”, Sports Massage is a necessary addition to any pre-event preparation. The specific massage techniques used depends greatly upon the sport involved but the general principles are the same. Sports Massage focuses on the areas of the athlete’s body that are overused and over-stressed. Among other things, Sports Massage targets the areas of the body where muscles attach to bones (tendons). The result is a greater range of motion, increased flexibility, improved endurance, quicker recovery time, and consequently, fewer injuries.
